'Avengers: Endgame Encore' Adds 4 New Scenes Tying Into 'Doomsday'

Marvel's re-released 'Avengers: Endgame Encore' adds four minutes of new footage featuring Doctor Doom, Loki, and Hulk, bridging into 'Avengers: Doomsday' ahead of its Dec. 18 release.

In the lead-up to Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel has re-released Avengers: Endgame in theaters with four brand new scenes that tie directly into the sprawling team-up film releasing Dec. 18. Retitled Avengers: Endgame Encore, the slightly longer version of the 2019 blockbuster adds about four minutes of new footage featuring characters like Robert Downey Jr.’s mega-villain Doctor Doom, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, and Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner.

Spoiler alert: This article details the new scenes now playing in theaters.

What the New Scenes Reveal

The first new scene takes place during Steve and Peggy’s dance at the close of the original film. After Steve Rogers has handed his shield to Sam Wilson and settled down with Peggy, they get a surprising knock at the door from Loki, who in his Time Variance Authority uniform pays them a visit — possibly to discuss the unstable branch in the multiverse created by Steve’s time travel.

A second Loki-centric scene takes place at the TVA with Mobius (Owen Wilson), Casey (Eugene Cordero), Ouroboros (Ke Huy Quan), and Miss Minutes (Tara Strong). They notice two Earths about to collide in an incursion and begin firing on each other — revealing that the entire multiverse is collapsing, a setup that may point toward the clash between Fox’s X-Men universe and the mainline MCU teased in the Doomsday trailer.

The final new scene shows Doctor Doom forging his metal mask to the same metallic clanging sound that played in the original film’s closing moments — a hint that Doom and Iron Man, both played by Downey Jr., may have their origins mirrored.

A third scene, set during the credits, finds Bruce Banner in an underground bunker tinkering on a serum to suppress his Hulking out after being apprehended in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Doctor Doom breaks into the facility, and Bruce turns into the roaring Hulk to face him — though the scene cuts away before we see what happens next.

Plotting the Next Big Event

The new scenes were shot during Doomsday production to bridge the two massive Avengers stories. Marvel has been building hype for Doomsday for a year, attaching four teasers to last year’s Avatar: Fire and Ash and running a year-long countdown clock.

Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters Dec. 18 — the same day as Dune: Part 3, setting up what fans have dubbed a “Dunesday” showdown. Marvel and Disney are hoping Doomsday becomes another smash hit in the wake of Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s record-setting run, which made it one of the highest-grossing films of the year.

Why It Matters

The re-release gives Marvel a theatrical event while building anticipation for its biggest 2026 slate entry, and it directly addresses one of the most-paused moments in Endgame history — the mysterious metallic sound that fans long theorized about. By tying Doom’s armor-forging to Tony Stark’s original suit construction, Marvel’s Endgame marks an evolution in how the studio uses re-releases: not just a nostalgia play, but a connective tissue between installments. For audiences, the question of whether Bruce and/or Hulk will appear in Doomsday — and whether he’ll be under Doctor Doom’s control — sets up one of the biggest threads heading into December.
