Demi Lovato will make a cameo in 'Camp Rock 3,' reprising her breakout role as Mitchie Torres 18 years after the original 2008 Disney Channel movie. The film debuts on Disney Channel Thursday and streams on Disney+ starting Friday.

Demi Lovato is heading back to camp. The singer and actress will make a cameo appearance in “Camp Rock 3,” reprising her breakout role as Mitchie Torres — 18 years after the original movie launched her career in 2008.

The news dropped just ahead of the film’s Los Angeles premiere event on Monday. “Camp Rock 3” debuts on Disney Channel on Thursday before hitting Disney+ on Friday. Lovato had previously been announced as an executive producer with no on-screen role, making the cameo a late, welcome surprise for fans of the franchise.

A Family Reunion at Camp Rock

Lovato isn’t the only familiar face returning. The Jonas Brothers executive produce in addition to reprising their roles as brothers and Connect 3 bandmates Shane Gray (Joe Jonas), Nate Gray (Nick Jonas) and Jason Gray (Kevin Jonas). Maria Canals-Barrera also returns as Mitchie’s mother, Connie. Newcomer Liamani Segura stars opposite Variety’s recent Power of Young Hollywood honoree and cover star Malachi Barton, with the cast rounded out by Lumi Pollack, Sherry Cola, Hudson Stone, Casey Trotter, Brooklynn Pitts and Ava Jean.

The film was directed by Veronica Rodriguez from a screenplay by Eydie Faye, with Tim Federle, Betsy Sullenger, Spencer Berman and Gary Marsh executive producing alongside Lovato and the Jonas Brothers.

A Franchise With Staying Power

The original “Camp Rock” premiered in 2008 as the second-most-watched Disney Channel Original Movie of all time and remains No. 3 to this day, trailing only “High School Musical 2” and “Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie.” It was followed by “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” in 2010, which was Disney Channel’s biggest movie that year. Together, the “Camp Rock” films have racked up more than 535 million hours watched.

Why It Matters

Nostalgia is a proven play in entertainment, and “Camp Rock 3” leans hard into it — reuniting a generation of fans with the cast that defined their childhoods. For Demi Lovato, the cameo is a full-circle moment: the role that made her famous is bringing her back to the screen in 2026. With Disney+ giving the film a global streaming debut, a whole new audience is about to meet Mitchie Torres for the first time.
