Spider-Man: Brand New Day Hits $2 Billion Worldwide, Becoming Second-Fastest Film Ever

Sophia Martinez ·

Sony and Marvel's Spider-Man: Brand New Day crossed $2 billion at the global box office in just 17 days, becoming the second-fastest movie in history to reach the milestone and only the eighth film ever to do it.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day just joined the most exclusive club in Hollywood. Sony and Marvel’s blockbuster crossed the $2 billion mark at the global box office, becoming the second-fastest movie in history to get there and the eighth film ever to hit that benchmark.

The Destin Daniel Cretton-directed, Tom Holland and Zendaya-starring picture pulled off the feat in just 17 days. For context, Avengers: Endgame still holds the record, crossing $2 billion in 11 days.

Crossed the $2 billion global mark, becoming the second-fastest movie to do so and the eighth movie to ever cross that benchmark.

The Monday update shows Brand New Day counting $786.5M domestically — the fourth-highest total ever in the US and Canada — and a running cume of $1.238B abroad for a worldwide tally of $2.024B. Its third global weekend came in at $189.7 million, and stateside it posted the second-best third weekend in domestic box office history at $71 million, trailing only Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ $90.2 million third frame.

A Global Sweep

The momentum extends far beyond North America. Brand New Day is now Sony Pictures’ highest-grossing release ever in 36 international markets, including Argentina, Colombia, Egypt, Hungary, India, Italy, Malaysia, Peru, the Philippines, Poland, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, the UAE and Vietnam. China led this weekend’s overseas frame with $10 million, pushing its cume to $210 million, followed by France at $9.1 million.

The film’s speed is turning heads inside the industry. It has now crossed $1 billion year-to-date ahead of heavy hitters like The Odyssey, Michael and Super Mario Galaxy Movie, establishing itself as the biggest draw of 2026 so far.

Why It Matters

A Spider-Man movie doing $2 billion in 17 days resets expectations for what a superhero franchise can do in a single theatrical run. With the web-slinger now firmly established as a global box-office monster, it all but guarantees the studio will keep the character on the big screen for years to come. Expect the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man to be swinging straight into sequel conversations the moment the credits roll.
