After 30 years, “The View” is gearing up for its biggest season yet. The Barbara Walters-created daytime talk show confirmed on Thursday that it will return to ABC for a milestone 30th season, kicking off Tuesday, Sept. 8.
The network released a promo announcing the start date and confirming the return of the full panel: Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin. It also dangled a tease for viewers watching at home.
A Milestone With a Mystery
“And if you think you know who will be here for our season premiere week, you’re about to be surprised,” the promo teased. So far ABC is keeping the details under wraps, leaving plenty of room for speculation about what — or who — awaits in that first week.
“If you think you know who will be here for our season premiere week, you’re about to be surprised.”
The milestone season arrives amid real turmoil for the show. ABC is battling the FCC in court over whether “The View” is subject to the agency’s equal time rule, part of a broader First Amendment lawsuit the network filed against Trump’s FCC. In June, ABC ran spots during the show urging viewers to file comments with the commission, telling them, “The FCC wants to control who is allowed to appear on the show. Viewers, use your voice.”
Why It Matters
A 30th season is a rare feat in daytime TV, and “The View” has weathered endless cast changes, political battles and, now, a federal fight over its very format. For a generation of viewers, the roundtable has been a daily ritual — and the premiere-week surprise gives fans a reason to tune in as the show marks three decades of heated opinion. Whether the mystery guest is a returning legend or a new voice, all eyes will be on that Sept. 8 opener.
