JENNIE is your fallen angel. The BLACKPINK star dropped her three-track digital EP “Fallen Angel” as the clock struck midnight on Friday, marking her latest solo step outside the K-pop supergroup.
The project arrives through Odd Atelier, the singer-actress’ own company and label, with a note describing a collection that comes “from a very personal place with the truest self-expression.” Billboard called it “a gift from JENNIE, with love.”
A Fairytale Full of Fire
The title track arrives with an official music video that plays like a dark fairytale — part Tim Burton, part fever dream. It’s a balancing act of light and dark, of bonfires and flowers, of butterflies and bad dreams, with JENNIE as the connecting tissue. “Thorns may be the sharpest, fiercest thing on this earth,” a spoken-word outro says, “and yet, they bloom into the world’s most beautiful roses.”
“A gift from JENNIE, with love.”
Fans worried about the fiery finale can rest easy: a disclaimer confirms all the fire was created with VFX (CG), and that scenes involving minors were filmed safely under supervision. The EP’s other tracks have backstories of their own — “Heaven” debuted last month when JENNIE headlined the final night of Open’er Festival in Gdynia, Poland, while “Less Than a Lover” was written, she told the crowd, thinking about summer.
Why It Matters
“Fallen Angel” is the latest signal that BLACKPINK’s members are building serious solo empires, and JENNIE is betting on herself as an auteur — releasing through her own label and treating each track like a mini-event. For a pop star this big, that control matters as much as the music itself. With a Tim Burton-adjacent visual and a deeply personal three-song statement, JENNIE is carving out a lane that’s all her own, and fans will be watching to see how far the angel falls.
